PLEXOS for Power Systems is a sophisticated mathematical programming software package, designed specifically for modelling electricity market systems. McLennan Magasanik Associates is pleased to be the sole provider of PLEXOS licensing, support and consultancy services across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and South Africa.
Developed in Australia by Energy Exemplar, with worldwide applications, PLEXOS is a MS Windows-based, Monte Carlo mixed integer programming model that optimises dispatch for electricity market simulations. It employs the same techniques that the Australian National Electricity Market Management Company (NEMMCO) uses to clear the National Electricity Market (NEM).

Plexos is available under licence by paying an annual subscription which covers both software maintenance and technical support. Databases developed by MMA for some markets are also available for purchase.

Implementation assistance for PLEXOS is included in the annual subscription. Customers are able to access this service either by contacting us directly or lodging a request on the tracking system.
Having used PLEXOS since its release, MMA is a highly experienced PLEXOS user. We are able to offer advice on ways to set up, run and troubleshoot a number of different electricity systems in PLEXOS.
Users are encouraged to use the tracking system to log any problems they may be experiencing. The tracking system also enables users to request new software features.

We offer training in PLEXOS to all users. We have provided PLEXOS training for many years and in many countries, including South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, and Singapore.
Courses are offered at all levels, from introductory training for beginners, to further training for those wishing to refresh or extend their skills. Highly advanced training is available for more experienced users who seek to gain a better understanding of some of the more complex PLEXOS features.
Training is customised to suit client needs and is market specific. A “hands-on” approach is adopted and comprehensive training materials are provided. Training can be conducted in the client’s premises or at our head office in Melbourne.
